From Stone Paper to a Distinctive Paper Shoot Camera
The materials we use every day raise important questions about resources, manufacturing, and environmental impact. Stone paper offers an alternative to conventional wood-pulp paper—and an unexpected material for a camera case.
Join Paper Shoot as we explore what stone paper is and how it becomes part of a camera with its own distinctive character.
What Is Stone Paper?
Stone paper is a paper-like material made primarily from calcium carbonate, commonly sourced from limestone, combined with a plastic binder such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
A common formulation contains approximately 80% calcium carbonate and 20% HDPE, although the composition varies by product. The mineral is ground into a fine powder, mixed with the binder, and processed into thin sheets.

Unlike conventional paper, stone paper does not rely on wood pulp as its main ingredient. Its mineral-based composition offers a different approach to making a smooth, flexible sheet material. However, its environmental impact depends on factors such as raw material sourcing, manufacturing, and disposal.
How Paper Shoot Uses Stone Paper
Paper Shoot uses stone paper to create the outer cases of selected camera designs, bringing the material’s distinctive texture and versatility into everyday photography.
Stone paper’s resistance to moisture and tearing makes it useful for an outer case. These material properties should be distinguished from the protection of the complete camera: the circuit board, battery compartment, and other components still need to be kept away from water.
The case also provides a canvas for illustrations, patterns, and colors, allowing the same compact camera concept to take on many different personalities.
A Camera Design for Every Style
Paper Shoot’s stone paper designs span a wide range of visual styles.
The Zen and Stone Pattern collections explore distinctive patterns and expressive details. Summer Bloom and Fancewu Art bring brighter colors and artistic character to the camera case. For those drawn to a nostalgic look, Old Lomo and Vintage offer designs inspired by the charm of earlier cameras.
