In its first eight years on the market, Paper Shoot earned 14 international awards for design and startup innovation, establishing its place in the camera market. Paper Shoot cameras have gained a growing following in Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, North America, and beyond.

Paper Shoot launched in Vietnam in 2019, introducing its cameras to local photography enthusiasts through papershoot.vn. These eco-friendly, paper-bodied cameras received a warm welcome and positive feedback from the Vietnamese community.

Paper Shoot Photography Experience | Vintage Colors & Lomography

"These photos were taken by MC with a Paper Shoot camera while shopping for flowers with Mum. I first fell in love with Paper Shoot a few years ago when I saw it on display at Songshan Cultural & Creative Park in Taipei, but I hesitated to buy one because I was concerned about warranty support. Now Paper Shoot is available in Vietnam.

This camera has a case made from… recycled paper and other natural materials. It offers four photo modes and can record video. There’s no preview screen, so you simply point and shoot, then view your photos later. Photos are stored on a memory card, and the USB port lets you transfer them and charge the camera.

...
It’s also affordable for beginners—priced similarly to budget compact cameras. But I chose Paper Shoot for its innovative design and eco-friendly approach: a paper case, minimalist components, rechargeable batteries, and reduced emissions."

Story #2 — Shared by @Lủi Thủi on Facebook

Have you ever done something without thinking, only to realise it has become a habit? For the photographer in the story below, keeping a Paper Shoot camera close has become part of everyday life. They capture moments spontaneously, then revisit those photos later and watch the memories come flooding back. That is part of the joy of shooting with Paper Shoot.

“A quirky wooden camera I once had the chance to use. So quirky that it gave me a little habit of my own, one I only have when using it.

It goes everywhere with me in my shirt pocket. Whenever I see something interesting, I take it out, snap a few photos, and put it away again. Sometimes I even forget what I’ve photographed, because I only transfer the photos once every month or two. Looking through each photo, I remember what everyone was doing and how we felt at the time… and then I find myself drifting through those little stories from the past…

Read one Paper Shooter’s story about travelling with a Paper Shoot camera:

“These are the photos I took with my Paper Shoot camera during a trip to Moc Chau on 3 June 2020. I decided to buy the camera on a whim on 1 June 2020 and took it straight to Moc Chau with me.

Taking photos without overthinking was such a fun experience. If something looked beautiful to me, I simply pressed the shutter. I tried all four colour modes (normal colour, black & white, sepia, and blue), and when I connected the camera to my computer to see the results, I was truly surprised.

Looking back at the photos brought up so many feelings. The moments I had captured looked beautiful, with rich colours and so much character. Even the photos with awkward angles, light leaks, or off-centre framing made me happy.

What I love most is that the camera uses eco-friendly materials, including stone paper made from inorganic mineral powder. Its design is compact and beautiful—everyone thought I was carrying a wallet!

I’m so glad I discovered Paper Shoot.

Thank you for being a part of my life.

- If I Like It, I Shoot It! No Overthinking -

Story #4 — Shared by @Đan Bùi on Facebook

In December 2020, Paper Shoot Vietnam and TheFace Magazine Vietnam co-hosted the TREASURE THE MOMENTS 2020 photography competition, celebrating the art of appreciating everyday moments. The competition attracted 145 entries featuring more than 600 black-and-white and vintage-colour photographs, capturing different sides of life across Vietnam and around the world.

On Christmas Eve 2020, the organisers announced four outstanding entrants, each receiving a special prize from Paper Shoot Vietnam. Curious about what the winner received and how they felt about it?

Read their story below to find out!

“I received this amazing gift box on the very last day of the year, and I’m absolutely over the moon. Honestly, the camera looks even better in person than I imagined. It’s small and lovely, like a little notebook, and so much fun to hold and shoot with. Stylish enough to show off during Tet—the design gets a 10/10 from me. I love it.

Đúng tinh thần của Lomo, máy được thiết kế tối giản duy chỉ với 1 nút bấm chụp và cần gạt chọn các filter màu. Thích là chụp, khỏi cần nghĩ ngợi, 10/10 ưng cái dạ.

The case is also made from recycled paper and reclaimed wood from industrial production, so that’s another 10/10 from me.

As for photos taken with the camera, I’ll share those another time. I’m waiting until the first day of 2021 to dress up, tidy my hair, and take this little beauty out for its first shoot of the year—a little good-luck ritual. I’ll post an update as soon as I can.

Friends, family, neighbours—anyone who’s curious can take a look at this website: https://vi.papershoot.vn/

P.S. Thank you again, Paper Shoot Vietnam, for organising the competition and sending me such a carefully wrapped gift (especially with no plastic at all—even the tape was paper).”
